Mangalore , September 25, 2009: The two-day National Seminar – Samprathi ’09 concluded here today with the valedictory function at 3:45 P.M. at the Eric Mathias Hall of St. Aloysius College (Autonomous), Mangalore. The program began with the theme song lead by the MSW students followed by the welcome address by Ms. Loveena Lobo, HOD – Dept. of MSW.
Ms. Giselle D Mehtha, Ex. IRS was the Chief Guest, Rev. Fr. Swebert D’Silva, Principal – St. Aloysius College presided over the function. Rev. Fr. Francis D’Almeida, Dean MSW was also present on the dias along with Ms Shwetha Rasquinha, Convenor and Prajwal Sebastian, Student Convenor. A floral welcome was given to the dignitaries.
Ms. Shilpa Cutinha, Faculty MSW presented the report of the two-day seminar. Later some participants expressed their views of Samprathi ’09, and the participation certificates were distributed.
“Today we have 40% of daliths, poor, refugees and other down trodden and marginalized people whose life is in great difficulty; are we ready to respond to their need being MSW students?” questioned Fr. Francis D’Almedia in the Dean’s Address. “The answer depends on us; A change is what we need” he added.
Speaking on Modern Life Style in the Chief Guests’Adress Ms. Giselle Mehtha said that “We can moderate the change rather than changing “.
