SAC students present a Musical evening

Mangalore, September 23, 2009: The Music Association of St. Aloysius College (Autonomous) presented a Musical Evening ’09 today at 1:40 PM after the Sarang 107.8 Community Radio was launched by the Governor of Karnataka, His Excellency Dr. H.S. Bharadwaj.

St. Aloysius College has been organising this event from several years in the College to encourage young talents. The event began with a short introduction of the musicians and the singers followed by the first song Fiona by Jithesh. Carol Monteiro, Deepika Shenoy sang Mujhe Kaliz Mogar Podla and Itheli Nee respectively accompanied to the dance by Priyanka and Group.

Angelina Moras, Meringmei Katachung, Calvin, Lobsang Yeshey, Jean Braggs,Priya Menezes, Ashwin D’Costa, Sawad K M, Ashish Palanna, Tyron Pinto, Hansel D’Almeida, Tina Mendonsa, Arif  A Shaikh, Mohammad Salith, Vinrose Pinto, Divya Kotian, Srilatha, Vishala, Muriel Mascharenhas sang many songs in different languages including English, Hindi, Kannada, Konkani and Malayalam.

Several dance performances were presented by various groups lead by Disha,Ashvithi, Mervin, Kelvin, Petula and Mottu Joise. Students, lecturers, non-teaching staff of the college also enjoyed the musical evening. The entire event was broadcasted live on Sarang 107.8 FM, the community radio of St. Aloysius College (Autonomous).

The event was attended by a huge audience of more than 3000 students. Auditions were conducted well in advance to select the singers, musicians and dancers. The foot-tapping traditional Non- Stop Baila by Shailesh Pereira brought the entire audience to the dance floor.
