St. Christopher Association Of Surathkal Celebrates Annual Feast

Mangalore / Surathkal 04, October 2009: St. Christopher Association of Surathkal celebrated the annual feast at Sacred Heart Church, Surathkal today at 9:15 A.M. The association is stepping into its 15th year of existence.

The formal program began by invoking Gods blessing lead by Mr. Raymond Roche, Former President. Mrs. Celine D’Souza, President welcomed the gathering.

Mr. Peter Paul D’Souza, Vice President Parish Council, Mrs. Celine D’Souza, President, Mr. George Ligoury, Secretary and Mr. William Mascharenhas, Auditor were present on the dais. Rev. Fr. Antony Lobo, Parish Priest presided over the function. A floral welcome was given to the all the guests present on and off the dais.

The Oath was delivered to the members of the association by Mrs. Celine D’Souza, President. Later, Mr. Ronald Fernandes, Co-founder of St. Christopher Association of Surathkal paid a tribute to Late Gabriel Misquith, Honorary Member and Co-founder, St Christopher Association of Surathkal.







He said that “St. Christopher Association of Surathkal began in the year 1995 with a specific intention of helping the needy members in times of distress. This all happened in the year 1995 when one person met with a severe accident and was badly injured. He was given a new life due to coordinated efforts of a few like-minded people. Thereafter the likeminded people of Surathkal, Katipalla, Mukka and Pezar parishes under the leadership of Late Gabriel Misquith formed a registered association”.

Later, the Annual Report of 2008-09 was presented by Mr. George Ligoury D’Souza, Secretary. Mr Naveen D’Souza, Treasurer presented the Balance Sheet of the Association that was audited by Mr. William Mascharenhas, Auditor.

Mr. Roque Noronha praised the gathering and wished them success with his rewarding verbal skill. Later Mr. John Suares delivered the vote of thanks.

Later, addressing the gathering in his presidential speech Rev. Fr. Antony Lobo congratulated the team and office bearers of the association for their hard work and efforts in building up the association. He invoked Gods’ blessing on the association and the members. The program was compeered by Mrs. Gretta Norbert Pinto

Earlier, today in the morning the Annual Feast began with the celebration of Holy Mass at 7-30 A.M. in Sacred Heart Church, Surathkal followed by blessing the vehicles of the parishioners of Surathkal, Mukka, Katipalla and Pezar by Fr. Antony Lobo, Parish Priest of Surathkal

Mrs. Celine D’Souza, Mrs. Gretta Pinto, Mrs. Veeda Pereira, Mr. Alwyn D’Souza, Mr. Benedict Crasta, Mr. William Mascharenhas, Mr. George Ligoury D’Souza and Mr. Dony were elected as the President, Vice-President, Secretary, Joint-Secretary, Treasurer, Auditor, Editor/Correspondent and Associate Secretary respectively for the year 2009-10.

St. Christopher Association of Surathkal began in the year 1995 with a specific intention of helping the needy members in times of distress. Thereafter the likeminded people of Surathkal, Katipalla, Mukka and Pezar parishes under the leadership of Late Gabriel Misquith formed a registered association by the name ‘St. Christopher Association of Surathkal’. The patron of the association, St. Christopher is the protector of travellers.

The motto of the association is to help and serve fellow members in times of distress as well as in financial difficulties and for social causes. This is an association of vehicle owners and vehicle drivers.
