Mangalore, October 25, 2009: This was clearly identifiable at ‘Prayog 09 – a quest for excellence in dance’ the biggest, toughest and hottest Dance Competition organised by the Mangalore Excellent Dance Academy (MEDA) in association with Panama Group today at 6:30 P.M at Nehru Maidan. It was an occasion to showcase the boogie flair and an evening for all the passionate dance lovers to enjoy. The response was fabulous and the eagerness amongst the viewers and especially among the children was perceptible. People from all walks of life and age groups attend this show.
The formal programme began with invoking God’s blessing by lighting the traditional ‘Diya’ by the Guests. Mr. Gopal Hosur IPS, IGP- Western Range Mangalore, Mrs. Sandhya, Mr. Jairam Bhat, MD-Karnataka Bank Mangalore, Mr. G.A. Bava, Retd. Asst. Commissioner of Police Bangalore, Mr A.G. Pai, ED & COO of Mangalore – SEZ Ltd, Mr & Mrs. Madhukhar Malli, Mr. Vivek Raj, Prop. Panama Group, Mr. Yogesh Bhat, Navadurgrakshetra, Mr. Rakesh Malli, Inte District President, Mr. Nagaraj Shetty, Mr. Shankar Bhat, Mayor of Mangalore, Sri. Rajashekharasnanda Swamy, Mr. & Mrs. Prakash Hegde, Founders – Sri Matha Education Mangalore, Mr. Ivan D’Souza, Vice President DK Congress Committee and Mr. Rajesh Bhat, Prop. Suraj Inc. were the Special Guests present on the venue. A floral welcome was given to all the Guests by the little kids of Mangalore Excellent Dance Academy (MEDA). Mrs. Evan D’Souza compeered the inaugural ceremony.
Sky Fantasy Firecrackers marked the grand opening of the most awaited gala event of Mangalore – ‘Prayog -09’. The presence of great entertainers like RJ Sahil Zaheer of Radio Mirchi 98.3 – host and VJ Avinash of Bangalore – the co-host spiked up the event.
The presence of the Celebrity Judges like Mr. Deepak Singh, Winner – Jalak Dikhlaja 2, Mr. Prince Gupta of Dance India Dance (DID) fame and Kannada Actress Ms. Bhavana Rao of Gaalipata fame made the event memorable and made the crowd especially the youth go gaga.
The event saw more than forty hilarious and splendid dance performances under the Solo and Group Dance under the junior and senior categories. The performance had a well balanced blend of the western, eastern and classical dance forms. From the traditional classical touches to the latest rap numbers and rock remixes the audience had a load full of entertainment. What else do people want on weekends? An absolute entertainment for you and your family – Prayog 09 was a huge success; the pleasant memories have already made place in everyone’s mind who attended this event.
Special performances from Cyrus Wong & Jhana Aithal (Boogie Woogie fames), DJ Avinash, Sanjay Jhanvi & Group and the Celebrities Mr. Deepak Singh, Mr. Prince Gupta, Ms. Bhavana Rao and others were unbelievable.
The organisers of ‘Prayog-09’ honoured the sponsors by presenting them with Mementos as a sense of respect and gratitude for contributing generously and supporting them towards the success of the ‘Prayog – 09’.
Mangalore Excellent Dance Academy was launched and flourished under the artistic direction and professional expertise of Mr. Sandesh Jhanvi, the master choreographer. Sandesh’s tryst with dance began in 1999 and MEDA emerged from being a tiny dance school to being one of the largest dance academies of Karnataka having more than 500 students of various age groups of 3 to 50 years. MEDA is offering classes in western, classical, Indian, jive, jazz, rock and folklore. MEDA is also backed by its qualified and professional trainers who have a vast knowledge of various dances thereby offering everyone a very high level of quality training.
MEDA is one among the few dance schools to perform at the national level with renowned masters and TV Channels like Sony, MTV, ETV, Udaya TV, Surya TV, Zee Kannada and have also performed shows along with Usha Uthup, Mahindra Kapur in Mumbai, Yeshudas, Rekhadas and other eminent personalities.
XTASY 2005, an awards and dance performance event was the first of its kind in Mangalore witnessed by various celebrities and spectators from all aspects of life who watched the show glued to their seats. XTASY 2005 was an all comprehensive variety show which portrayed and projected MEDA as an icon or brand for modern dancing. In 2006 MEDA decided to add one more event to the already popular XTASY show and that was the Xtasy Amazing Kids 2006. With all new and innovative and creative ideas bubbling MEDA hosted the event on a magnanimous scale. The success of Xtasy 2006, Xtasy 2007 created new ideas to work towards noble causes.
