Mangalore, December 25, 2009: The above saying is true with respect to the people of Surathkal also. From recent years Christmas has been a time wherein people from various communities come together and become a part of the X’Mas Fete Celebrations here in Surathkal representing brotherhood, fraternity and peace. People from all age groups eagerly await throughout the year for the X’Mas Fete here in Surathkal Church.
X-MAS FETE ’09 was organized by the Sacred Heart Yuvak Sangh (SHYS / ICYM) of Sacred Heart Church, Surathkal today at 6:00 P.M. in the Church Premises.
In the formal inaugural function, Chris Misquith welcomed the gathering. Deacon Manoj was the Guest of Honour and Fr. Antony Lobo, Parish Priest presided over the function.
Chris Misquith, President – SHYS and Lionel D’Souza, Secretary – SHYS were present on the dais along with the guests. A floral welcome was given to all the dignitaries on the dais.
Addressing the gathering in the inaugural speech Deacon Manoj gave a call to the youth to actively participate in the church activities and help SHYS grow stronger. He also said “No matter what gifts we get from God, ultimately we want God himself”. He concluded wishing the entire gathering – “Let this Christmas season bring peace and happiness to all of us”.
Later in his presidential speech Fr. Antony Lobo, Parish Priest congratulated Sacred Heart Yuvak Sangh for organizing such a meaningful event. He also said that it is the hard work of the energetic members of SHYS that has made this event a reality. He concluded by wishing the gathering the blessings of the new born Jesus.
