Surathkal parish celebrates annual feast

Mangalore, January 7, 2010: The Parishioners of Sacred Heart Church, Surathkal celebrated their Annual Feast ‘Vodlem Fest’ on January 6, 2010 with pomp and gaiety.

Most Rev. Dr. Aloysius Paul D’Souza, Bishop of Mangalore was the Main Celebrant. Rev. Fr. John Mendonsa, Vicar General, Pezar Varado and Rev. Fr. Antony Lobo concelebrated.

Fr. Melwyn, Aadyapady; Fr. Stany Fernandes, Ferar; Fr. Paul Rego, Gurpur; Fr. Oswald Lasrado, Permude; Fr. Mathias Pereira, Bajpe; Fr. Anil D’Silva, Bajpe; Fr. Joseph Mascarenhas, Katipalla and Fr. Benjamin Lobo were present for the Eucharistic Celebration.

In the formal program Most Rev. Dr. Aloysius Paul D’Souza, Bishop of Mangalore was welcomed with presenting him a memento, shawl and flowers. In his address he gave a call to all the parishioners to help the Church to continue its mission by inculcating religious values in children and youth.

Mr. Peter D’Souza welcomed the gathering. All the visiting priests/guest priests were welcomed with a memento, shawl and flowers.

Earlier, the newly built Sared Heart Jesus Shrine was inaugurated by Mr. Francis Telllis and blessed by Dr. Aloysius Paul D’Souza, Bishop of Mangalore. Mr. Peter D’Souza, Vice President of Parish Council and Mrs. Veeda Miranda, Secretaryof Parish Council were also present.

The stalls put up jointly by Sacred Heart Yuvak Sangh (ICYM), YCS and Altar Boys Association housed many games which kept the crowd engaged and entertained. The much enjoyed game ‘Housie – Housie’ saw a good participation.
