International launch of Apple iPad scheduled on May 28th

By Roydon D’Souza (TTZ)

Apple in its official announcement on 7th May 2010 affirmed that iPad will be officially available in global markets from May 28th onwards. The tablet is anticipated to be rolled out in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland and Britain. Pre-orders for the tablet, however, will begin this Monday, May 10th.

In the initial month of domestic sales in the US, Apple moved more than one million units. With the strong initial interest in the US, it is believed that the global arrival will prove just as significant, with overall sales estimates for the iPad this year expected between four and five million units. Adding up more curiosity to the tablet around the world is the fact that its launch had been delayed a full month – from late April to late May – on higher than expected demand issues. If you’re not a resident of any of the above nine markets, don’t worry. The iPad may still find you this summer. Apple also announced that the iPad will debut in Austria, Belgium, Hong Kong, Ireland, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand and Singapore in July.

Noticeably absent from the list, of course, are other major nations that one would have expected to see on the lists. They include South Korea, India and Japan. Even with Israel’s past issues with the iPad (issues that have since been addressed and resolved) at no point in time during the announcement did Apple indicate that Israel would be included in the next wave of iPad launches across the globe.

While prices will likely be all over the map for the iPad, Apple is yet to officially announce pricing information. Looks like we’ll have to wait until Monday.

However, unofficial sources say that Apple in a press release have announced the pricing information. Its mentioned below:
